Here's some DeLuxe Vinyl cover art for you mp3 bums.....
SCIENTIST makes some of the best dub reggae in the world, and this 1981 album was no exception. If you've never heard this, find it now. I'm partial to 'Laser Attack," the first song on Side B
Speaking of instrumentals...
ENOCH LIGHT made tons of albums, but this moog-heavy work from 1969 is one of my favorites. The song, "A Little Fugue for You and Me" - named for and inspired by the MOZART composition - was famously sampled by THE BEATNUTS on their hit single, "No Escapin' This."
Next, filed under "May Not Exist"....
I've never actually heard this record - in fact, knowing the internet, it may just be a (very) clever 'shop job... But, doesn't FATHER ROBERT WHITE, "The Reverend in Rhythm" really remind you of J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, figurehead of the Church of the SubGenius? At any rate, In "Bob" We Trust.
While on the topic of Reverends....
The group pictured is PSYCHIC TV, and this was the 13th release from their Temple Records label. Unlucky for some, as stated on the back. It's basically just REV. JIM JONES ranting, and then people screaming as that little mass suicide takes place. Limited to 789 copies, one for each of the dead at Jonestown (according to the official U.S. report).
Listen to the first two albums, and marvel at the last two.
By the way, I'm not going to be posting any downloads here, unless the music is definitely out of print, or otherwise not under any copyright. I may post a link to Thee Last Supper in the comments, but that SCIENTIST record is about to be re-issued, there's a cd version of the ENOCH LIGHT album currently in print, and "The Reverend in Rhythm" was probably some church giveaway that no one in the world has.
